Marie Plummer
FOUNDER
I am a wife, a mother to 3, and a lover of ALL animals, especially my whippet, Vera.
For as long as I can remember, I have been rescuing and taking care of all kinds of animals. I began pet sitting in high school and continued into college.
Winston Salem Dog Care was born out of my love for my 1st and most precious whippet, Patton. As he began to age into his teens it became important to me to find quality in-home pet care when I needed to be away. After struggling to find that care sometimes, I set out to be that caregiver for others. A few ideas later, and here we are.

Justin Plummer
Owner
Over the past 4 years, I have been blessed to partner with my wife to build one of Winston-Salem’s finest pet care companies. After receiving training from the Whippet rescue of Asheville, we are excited to now use that knowledge to service Winston-Salem at a higher level.
We have had dogs of our own the majority of our marriage. Little did I expect, that January night, when she showed up with a Whippet, what a journey we had started and what a dynamic Patton would being to create our lives. 3 dogs and 3 kids later, here we are.

Aiden
Pet Care
Hi, I’m Aidan! I’ve always loved animals and have been the go-to pet sitter for my friends and family over the years. In middle school, I even volunteered at the Humane Society, caring for dogs and gaining valuable experience in animal care.
My background is in filmmaking—I recently graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The fast-paced, high-stress environment of filmmaking taught me to think on my feet, manage time impeccably, and adapt quickly to any situation—skills I bring to the Winston-Salem Dog Care team every day.
Although I don’t currently have pets of my own, I recently lost my dog this past August, and dogs will always hold a special place in my heart. What I love most about working with pets is the love and support they give their humans. I consider it an honor to share in that bond and to give them the care they deserve in return.

Hello! My name is Alyssa, and I joined WSDC in March of 2024. Pet Care
Hello to all my fellow animal lovers. I am a San Francisco bay area transplant where I was a dog walker for the past decade. Thankfully, I have been fortunate enough to become a part of the Winston-Salem Dog Care team and continue with my passion for caring for your furry family members.
I have always had a love for animals and have had pets (dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, turtles, etc.) practically my entire life. To be able to get to help out and care for your pet is something I take a lot of pride in doing and get a deep sense fulfillment knowing that I am making you and your pet's life easier.

Brooklyn
Howdy! I’m Brooklyn, originally from Seattle, WA, and now happily adventuring on the East Coast. I bring three years of professional experience in cat boarding and in-home pet sitting, along with a lifelong love for both cats and dogs. Over the years, I’ve also volunteered with TNR (trap-neuter-return) efforts and helped rehome semi-feral cats — experiences that have earned me the nickname "kitty whisperer" from friends and family.
I currently share my home with two spirited kitties, Croissant and Biscuit, who are the heart behind my passion for professional pet care. With a careful eye for detail (thanks to a little OCD), I triple-check everything to make sure your pets and home are cared for just like my own.
Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, hiking, crocheting, tending to my ever-growing plant collection, and traveling — I’ve been to all 50 states! I’m taking a gap year from my Master’s program in Microbiology to focus on what truly makes me happy: caring for animals and meeting new furry friends.
I’m excited to be part of the Winston-Salem Dog Care team, where I can continue to learn, grow, and provide the kind of top-notch care I would want for my own pet.

Cynthia
Pet Care
Hi there! My name is Cynthia. I joined WS Dog Care after a dozen years combined experience in pet retail and doggie daycare/boarding. I’m excited to be working with a team that focuses on elevated individual care. I have always seen my own pets as non-human family members whether that was reptiles, small animals, cats, or of course dogs. My personal goal is to befriend every animal I meet and enrich their lives as best I can. I look forward to meeting your pet family and giving them the highest level of attention in specified care that comes from a place of genuine love for animals.

Glenda
Pet Care
Hi, I’m Glenda! I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, which sparked my lifelong love for caring for creatures of all kinds. I have a special knack for reading their moods and comfort levels, and I love using that connection to help pets feel happy and secure.
At home, I care for quite the menagerie: 2 emus, 3 goats, 1 pony, 2 turkeys, 1 pig, 4 cats, 6 dogs, 2 guineas, 4 ducks, and 29 chickens—all of them completely spoiled! One of the things I love most about working with animals is their ability to accept everyone just as they are.
A fun fact about me is that I left a six-figure job to pursue my passion for animals and to do something that truly makes me happy—and I’ve never looked back! When I’m not working, I enjoy sitting on the ground snuggling with my animals.
My favorite subject in school was history, I love sushi, and I think pineapple sometimes belongs on pizza. I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of the flexibility and the opportunity to work with animals, and I’m excited to keep learning anything and everything in my role here!

Pet Care
Hello! My name is Isabella and my love for animals started when I was 16. I started working in local horse stables where I mucked stalls, fed and mediated horses, learned how to completely care for horses as my own and to ride. After a few years of working the farm life, I decided to expand my knowledge and love for animals by working at Petsmart! I learned how to care for many different reptiles and small animals as well as learn more about dogs and how to help pet parents choose appropriate food, gear, treats and toys. After having a baby, I decided I was ready to get back into the pet care world and I joined WSDC. I absolutely love caring for a meeting your fur kids! I look forward to meeting and loving on your babies!

Meredith
I’ve always had a love for animals! I grew up with dogs, and over the years I’ve cared for dogs, cats, chickens, hamsters, guinea pigs, and even lizards. One of the things that makes my journey unique is that I’ve had the chance to care for pets internationally, which taught me so much about flexibility and understanding different needs.
I don’t currently have pets of my own, but I’m looking forward to having a dog someday. I’m partial to dogs, but I also have a soft spot for cats. What I really love about working with pets is knowing that I can bring joy to their day and peace of mind to their families.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, reading, thrifting, and catching live music when I can. Fun fact: I once summited an active volcano! In school, English was always my favorite subject—I loved that reading was something I could actually get graded on.
Favorite restaurant: Sixth and Vine
Food I’ll never eat: Olives (can’t get past the smell!)
Pineapple on pizza? Absolutely, yes.I was drawn to WSDC because of its positive reputation and high level of care for both pets and their families. I’m excited to grow here and learn how to consistently provide top-notch care for our wide variety of clients and their pets.

Hello my name is Naudia Sines and I have a wide variety of experience in animal care. From reptiles like crocodilians, snakes, and many other exotics. I’m also well versed in wildlife rehabilitation, surgeries, medication, and the healing of raccoons, opossums, bobcats, and birds of prey. I currently work for Marie in dog and cat care. I’ve taken care of animals for the last 12 years and this is my passion and calling. I’m excited to start this new journey and add more experience under my belt.

Red
Pet Care
Hi, I’m Red! I have extensive experience working with animals, including owning and fostering special needs pets (blind, deaf, and mobility-impaired), managing a licensed pet rescue, and working as a vet tech. My background also includes training therapy and service dogs, grooming, and even some experience with horses. I have a deep understanding of canine behavior and training techniques, and I’m passionate about providing exceptional care to animals of all kinds.
At home, I share my life with an incredible group of rescued pets: Bo, a Chow Chow with behavioral challenges; Mim, a Chihuahua; Lilith, a white German Shepherd who is dual-trained as a service dog; Mouse, a blind Maine Coon mix; Diva, a deaf Khao Manee cat; Shadow, a domestic short hair with an autoimmune disease; and Midnight, a large black cat who was rescued alongside Shadow. Each of them brings so much joy and purpose to my life.
I believe responsible pet ownership is about finding pets that thrive within your lifestyle while meeting their physical, mental, and emotional needs. This philosophy drives my work and my dedication to every animal I care for. Working with pets is incredibly rewarding and keeps me learning, growing, and adapting every day.
I bring strong time management skills, a calm and proactive approach to unexpected situations, and a commitment to clear communication. My background in public relations also helps me connect with people and address concerns effectively.
Outside of work, I’m an avid reader and love exploring the outdoors, museums, and new adventures with my family. Homeschooling my children keeps me busy and constantly learning alongside them. My favorite subject in school was mythology, my go-to restaurant is Sakura, and while I’m open to most foods, I’d never eat monkey or horse meat. Pineapple on pizza? Only with ham and black olives!
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of its values-driven approach, dedication to the local community, and the opportunity to maintain a healthy work-life balance while contributing to the company’s growth. I’m eager to learn more about the unique needs of the pets in our area and dive deeper into WSDC’s processes to enhance my skills and help the team succeed.

Samantha
Hi, I’m Samantha (or Sam)! Growing up, my family always had dogs—our two labs were such a huge part of my childhood. When I was 17, we started fostering rescue dogs, which became a meaningful and rewarding part of my life.
One of our fosters, a puppy named Ellie, stole my heart, and I couldn’t let her go. I adopted her, and for the past two years, we’ve been inseparable. Watching her grow and learn new things has been an absolute joy. While I’m definitely a dog lover, I currently live with three cats and enjoy their unique and fun personalities just as much.
Working with pets is incredibly fulfilling for me. I love the joy and companionship they bring to our lives, and being able to provide them with care and love is something I’m truly passionate about.
Outside of work, I enjoy painting and gardening. My favorite subject in school was science, and my favorite restaurant is Sakura, a Japanese spot in Oshkosh, WI. One food I’d never eat is cow tongue, and I’m firmly in the “no pineapple on pizza” camp!
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because it’s a family-run company, and since joining the team, I’ve been so impressed by the hard work and dedication the owners put into every aspect of the business. It’s inspiring to be part of a team that truly cares about what they do.
I’m excited to continue learning more about the behavior of different dog breeds and how to handle a variety of situations that come with working in pet care. I look forward to meeting all the wonderful pets and their families and being part of the amazing work we do here at WSDC!

Shannon
Hi, I’m Shannon! I’ve been working with animals since 2015, when I started at a pet boarding facility in Ohio. In 2017, I completed a pet grooming academy and became a certified pet groomer. Since then, I’ve worked full-time with all different breeds of dogs and cats, gaining in-depth knowledge about their needs and how to keep them happy and healthy.
Thanks to my grooming background, I have a strong understanding of pet care, especially when it comes to maintaining healthy coats. I enjoy helping pet parents feel confident that their pets are receiving the best love, care, and attention while they’re away.
At home, I have quite the crew of animals! My six rescue cats—Callie (23), Melvin (13), Eeva (7), Beans (5), Lizzie (5), and Randall (3)—are my pride and joy. I also have a 5-year-old Yorkie, Vivian, who brought so much light to our family after we lost our 14-year-old Yorkie. Vivian’s spunky personality makes everyone smile. On top of that, I care for a betta fish sorority (with 3 females, 2 catfish, a dwarf frog, a snail, and a loach) and two jumping spiders—a new interest I took up in 2024 to conquer my arachnophobia.
Though I’m definitely a cat lady at heart, I adore all animals. What I love most about working with pets is building trust and providing peace of mind to their owners. Each day is an opportunity to bond with different pets, learn their routines and quirks, and ensure they feel safe and loved.
Outside of work, you’ll find me snuggled on the couch with my cats and dog, enjoying snacks, or heading to dirt bike tracks with my fiancé. My favorite restaurant is Cookout (a new obsession since moving from Ohio), and while I’ll try almost anything, you won’t catch me eating pineapple on pizza!
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of their outstanding reputation and family-run atmosphere. After speaking with Marie and hearing great things from Vivian’s trainer, I knew it would be a perfect fit. I’m most excited about meeting all the wonderful pets and families we serve, learning their unique care routines, and building lasting relationships with both regulars and new faces on my schedule.

I’m excited to be part of the WSDC team! While I don’t have prior professional animal care experience, I’ve always been around pets and I love learning their unique quirks and personalities. At home, I have three of my own—Luna (a chihuahua-dachshund mix), Scooby (a bichon-chihuahua mix), and Sora (a black-and-white cat).
I’ve always had a soft spot for dogs, especially larger breeds, and I look forward to growing my skills in handling and communicating with them. I try to stay calm under pressure and am always ready to jump in and do whatever needs to be done.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me playing music, writing, reading, or gaming. A fun fact about me is that I’ve been to nine different countries and eight different states!
Favorite restaurant: Arigatos
One food I’ll never eat: Nuts
Pineapple on pizza? Never. -
Brittany
Hi, I’m Brittany (or Britt)! I’ve been around animals for as long as I can remember—working with rescue groups from the time I could walk and always having dogs growing up. I also have four years of experience in kennel and boarding care, which has given me a strong understanding of dog behavior and the ability to recognize and prevent potential issues, like fights.
I’m a proud dog mom to two amazing pit bulls: Blu and Killah. Blu was my emotional support dog after my grandmother passed, and he now lives with my dad in Pennsylvania. Killah came to me at six weeks old with parvo, and nursing him back to health created an unbreakable bond. He also helped me through a very difficult time in my life, and I truly believe I wouldn’t have made it through without him. My dogs have saved me emotionally and mentally, and I’m forever grateful for them!
My favorite thing about working with pets is that no two days are ever the same. I love bonding with the pups, giving them endless butt scratches and cuddles, and just enjoying their unique personalities every day.
Outside of work, I spend my time helping Mama Lisa feed the homeless community—a cause close to my heart. I also played softball competitively since I was a child, and that competitive spirit still runs strong in me! My favorite restaurant is La Bamba in Greensboro, and you won’t catch me eating collard greens or pineapple on pizza anytime soon.
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of the intimate and personalized environment they provide for the animals. I love that the kennel is on the smaller side and that the team is close-knit—it’s the perfect place for me, as I thrive in a calm, focused setting (unlike big groups of people, which give me anxiety!).
I’m excited to be part of this incredible team and look forward to making strong connections with all the pets (and their parents) we serve!

Karma
Hi! I’m Karma—and yes, that’s what I go by too. This is my first professional experience working with animals, but I’ve been surrounded by them my entire life. From dogs and cats to rodents, chickens, and even a pig at one point, animals have always been a big part of my world.
I currently share my home with a rescue dog named Bagel and two cats, Ellie and FireFuzz. Bagel didn’t bark or make any noise for the first few months after we adopted her, so I’ve worked closely with her to build up her confidence. Ellie was found under my partner’s house and quickly became part of the family. FireFuzz is actually the granddaughter of my older cat, so she holds a special place in my heart.
If I had to pick, I’d say my favorite pets are cats and rodents—especially mice and gerbils. I’ve always loved how smart and expressive they are, and I hope to have more someday.
I consider myself a creative thinker and like offering new ideas or perspectives that might not have been considered before. I love knowing that the work I do helps improve the quality of life for the animals we care for—even if it’s just one pet at a time. That alone makes every day meaningful to me.
When I’m not working, I’m probably playing video games or building up my collections—I’m really into Pokémon cards and Calico Critters right now.
Science has always been my favorite subject in school—it just clicks for me. And while I’m still undecided on a favorite restaurant (Applebee’s hasn’t won me over yet), I do know I’d never eat anything like pufferfish… I’m not taking any chances. And yes—I feel strongly that pineapple has no business being on pizza!
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because it felt like more than just a job—it felt like a family. That’s exactly what I’ve found here. Everyone is close-knit and supportive, and Marie especially gives off a “mom” energy that shows how much she truly cares for her staff.
I’m excited to keep growing here and to continue deepening my understanding of dogs and the best ways to care for them. Helping them live their best lives is the goal—and I’m all in.

Hi, I’m Madyson—but you can also call me Mady! I’m currently in school working toward becoming a veterinary assistant, and I love being able to apply what I’m learning to my work with the pets here at WSDC.
I’ve always been surrounded by animals and have over a year and a half of experience working at a boarding and daycare facility for dogs. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’m passionate about building a career in animal care.
At home, things are definitely lively! My family and I have four dogs—Lilly, Luna, Doug, and Chicken Wing—and I recently added my dream pup to the mix: a golden retriever named Chica. I fell in love with her little face the moment I saw her. She keeps me on my toes 24/7, and I couldn’t be happier. I also have seven cats, each with their own personality, and I absolutely adore them. I’d definitely say I’m more of a cat person at heart!
What I love most about working at Winston-Salem Dog Care is building trust with both pets and their families. Creating those bonds and knowing that our clients feel confident and cared for means everything to me.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my pets. I love being outside in the sunshine with a good book, going to concerts, and collecting vinyl records—I’ve been building my collection since middle school and have about 200 so far!
Fun facts about me? My favorite restaurant is Olive Garden (I’m a pasta girl through and through), I’d never eat a hot dog (they scare me 😅), and I’m still undecided about pineapple on pizza—I’ve never tried it!
I was drawn to WSDC because it felt like a warm, welcoming, and truly passionate environment. I’m so excited to continue growing here and learning even more skills that will help me as I move forward in the animal care field.
