Marie Plummer
FOUNDER
I am a wife, a mother to 3, and a lover of ALL animals, especially my whippet, Vera.
For as long as I can remember, I have been rescuing and taking care of all kinds of animals. I began pet sitting in high school and continued into college.
Winston Salem Dog Care was born out of my love for my 1st and most precious whippet, Patton. As he began to age into his teens it became important to me to find quality in-home pet care when I needed to be away. After struggling to find that care sometimes, I set out to be that caregiver for others. A few ideas later, and here we are.

Justin Plummer
Owner
Over the past 4 years, I have been blessed to partner with my wife to build one of Winston-Salem’s finest pet care companies. After receiving training from the Whippet rescue of Asheville, we are excited to now use that knowledge to service Winston-Salem at a higher level.
We have had dogs of our own the majority of our marriage. Little did I expect, that January night, when she showed up with a Whippet, what a journey we had started and what a dynamic Patton would being to create our lives. 3 dogs and 3 kids later, here we are.

Aiden
Pet Care
Hi, I’m Aidan! I’ve always loved animals and have been the go-to pet sitter for my friends and family over the years. In middle school, I even volunteered at the Humane Society, caring for dogs and gaining valuable experience in animal care.
My background is in filmmaking—I recently graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The fast-paced, high-stress environment of filmmaking taught me to think on my feet, manage time impeccably, and adapt quickly to any situation—skills I bring to the Winston-Salem Dog Care team every day.
Although I don’t currently have pets of my own, I recently lost my dog this past August, and dogs will always hold a special place in my heart. What I love most about working with pets is the love and support they give their humans. I consider it an honor to share in that bond and to give them the care they deserve in return.

Pet Care
Hello to all my fellow animal lovers. I am a San Francisco bay area transplant where I was a dog walker for the past decade. Thankfully, I have been fortunate enough to become a part of the Winston-Salem Dog Care team and continue with my passion for caring for your furry family members.
I have always had a love for animals and have had pets (dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, turtles, etc.) practically my entire life. To be able to get to help out and care for your pet is something I take a lot of pride in doing and get a deep sense fulfillment knowing that I am making you and your pet's life easier.

Cynthia
Pet Care
Hi there! My name is Cynthia. I joined WS Dog Care after a dozen years combined experience in pet retail and doggie daycare/boarding. I’m excited to be working with a team that focuses on elevated individual care. I have always seen my own pets as non-human family members whether that was reptiles, small animals, cats, or of course dogs. My personal goal is to befriend every animal I meet and enrich their lives as best I can. I look forward to meeting your pet family and giving them the highest level of attention in specified care that comes from a place of genuine love for animals.

Pet Care
Hi, I’m Glenda! I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, which sparked my lifelong love for caring for creatures of all kinds. I have a special knack for reading their moods and comfort levels, and I love using that connection to help pets feel happy and secure.
At home, I care for quite the menagerie: 2 emus, 3 goats, 1 pony, 2 turkeys, 1 pig, 4 cats, 6 dogs, 2 guineas, 4 ducks, and 29 chickens—all of them completely spoiled! One of the things I love most about working with animals is their ability to accept everyone just as they are.
A fun fact about me is that I left a six-figure job to pursue my passion for animals and to do something that truly makes me happy—and I’ve never looked back! When I’m not working, I enjoy sitting on the ground snuggling with my animals.
My favorite subject in school was history, I love sushi, and I think pineapple sometimes belongs on pizza. I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of the flexibility and the opportunity to work with animals, and I’m excited to keep learning anything and everything in my role here!

Hailey
Pet Care
Hi! I’m Hailey, and as far back as I can remember, I have always had a love for animals! I’ve had pets my whole life and I’ve always been my friends and family’s go to pet sitter! My fiancé and I currently have our own little zoo! Which includes 4 dogs, a rabbit, 11 chickens, 2 ducks, a goose and my sweet tortie cat who I adopted 13 years ago. Taking care of all of our animals is what inspired me to want to do it professionally. Bonding with your pet(s) is something I love doing, seeing them go from “who is this in my house” to “yay she’s back!” is the most rewarding part. I’m an excellent multitasker and have great attention to detail, which helps me perfect my duties and tasks at hand, all while still bonding with your pet(s). I love taking photos as well, so rest assured somewhere in my camera roll, there will always be a picture of your fur baby!!
When I’m not working, I enjoy starting new projects around our house. We’re currently renovating our home and I love seeing the progress my fiancé and I have made and continue to make! All with the supervision of our huge fur baby crew.
I was drawn to WSDC because of the responsibility and independence. As well as the wonderful reputation and professionalism they are known for! I love my job and can’t wait to keep learning and growing with them, with you and with your fur babies! -

Isabella
Pet Care
Hello! My name is Isabella and my love for animals started when I was 16. I started working in local horse stables where I mucked stalls, fed and mediated horses, learned how to completely care for horses as my own and to ride. After a few years of working the farm life, I decided to expand my knowledge and love for animals by working at Petsmart! I learned how to care for many different reptiles and small animals as well as learn more about dogs and how to help pet parents choose appropriate food, gear, treats and toys. After having a baby, I decided I was ready to get back into the pet care world and I joined WSDC. I absolutely love caring for a meeting your fur kids! I look forward to meeting and loving on your babies!

Meredith
Hi, I’m Meredith! I’ve been around animals my whole life—dogs, cats, chickens, hamsters, guinea pigs, even lizards. Over the years I’ve had the chance to care for pets not just locally, but internationally as well, which gave me a deep appreciation for how unique each pet can be depending on where and how they live.
I don’t currently have any pets of my own, but I’m definitely looking forward to having a dog someday. I’m partial to dogs, but I love a good cat cuddle session too. One of my favorite parts of working with pets is knowing that I get to bring a little joy to their day—and give their people peace of mind while they’re away.
Outside of work, I love being outdoors hiking, hunting for treasures while thrifting, getting lost in a good book, and catching live music whenever I can. English was always my favorite subject in school because reading never felt like homework to me. A few quick facts: the left lane is for passing, I won’t go near olives, and pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza. My favorite restaurant is Sixth and Vine, and one fun thing about me? I once summited an active volcano.
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of its positive reputation and the level of care the team provides to both clients and their pets. I’m excited to continue learning how to deliver top-notch, consistent care for every pet who trusts us with their day.

Red
Pet Care
Hi, I’m Red! I have extensive experience working with animals, including owning and fostering special needs pets (blind, deaf, and mobility-impaired), managing a licensed pet rescue, and working as a vet tech. My background also includes training therapy and service dogs, grooming, and even some experience with horses. I have a deep understanding of canine behavior and training techniques, and I’m passionate about providing exceptional care to animals of all kinds.
At home, I share my life with an incredible group of rescued pets: Bo, a Chow Chow with behavioral challenges; Mim, a Chihuahua; Lilith, a white German Shepherd who is dual-trained as a service dog; Mouse, a blind Maine Coon mix; Diva, a deaf Khao Manee cat; Shadow, a domestic short hair with an autoimmune disease; and Midnight, a large black cat who was rescued alongside Shadow. Each of them brings so much joy and purpose to my life.
I believe responsible pet ownership is about finding pets that thrive within your lifestyle while meeting their physical, mental, and emotional needs. This philosophy drives my work and my dedication to every animal I care for. Working with pets is incredibly rewarding and keeps me learning, growing, and adapting every day.
I bring strong time management skills, a calm and proactive approach to unexpected situations, and a commitment to clear communication. My background in public relations also helps me connect with people and address concerns effectively.
Outside of work, I’m an avid reader and love exploring the outdoors, museums, and new adventures with my family. Homeschooling my children keeps me busy and constantly learning alongside them. My favorite subject in school was mythology, my go-to restaurant is Sakura, and while I’m open to most foods, I’d never eat monkey or horse meat. Pineapple on pizza? Only with ham and black olives!
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of its values-driven approach, dedication to the local community, and the opportunity to maintain a healthy work-life balance while contributing to the company’s growth. I’m eager to learn more about the unique needs of the pets in our area and dive deeper into WSDC’s processes to enhance my skills and help the team succeed.

Sarah
Hi, I’m Sarah! I’ve lived with animals my entire life—dogs first, and later cats—so caring for them has always felt natural to me. Walking them, feeding them, helping them feel safe… it’s something I grew up doing without even thinking about it. That experience has given me a solid comfort level with both dogs and cats.
One of the unique things I bring to the team is how intuitive I am. Being hard of hearing has taught me to learn by doing and to stay extra aware of my surroundings. That awareness helps me pick up on subtle cues from pets, keep everyone safe, and be more in tune with the animals I’m caring for.
I have two tabby cats of my own—Marvin and Moe. They’re not from the same litter; Marvin is the cuddler, and Moe is the mischievous dumpster diver of the family. My favorite types of pets are the lovers and cuddle bugs. When their families are away, they can miss that closeness, and it means a lot to me to be able to fill that gap and give them comfort.
I love working with pets because no matter how shy or outgoing they are, every animal has a moment where they let you in. A little affection, a little food, and a lot of patience builds trust—and soon you start to see their personality shine. That’s my favorite part.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, watching shows like NCIS, and spending time with my two daughters as they grow into beautiful young women. My family moved here from Wisconsin in June 2025 for my husband’s job, and while we’re still settling in, we’re loving the warmer weather. I’m still exploring local restaurants, but To the Moon and Back Ice Cream has definitely won me over. Pineapple on pizza? Absolutely not.
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because it sounded like a job I’d truly enjoy—and one that fits the flexibility I need as a mom. I also really love that I get my exercise in while doing something that makes me happy. I’m excited to learn everything I can and become the best dog walker possible, while gaining experience with all sorts of animals along the way.

Sophia
Hi, I’m Sophia! I’ve been around animals for as long as I can remember. I spent my middle school years working at a horse barn, and my mom is a national-level dog trainer, so caring for pets has always been a big part of my life. Because of that, I bring a strong attention to detail and a genuine love for what I do. Whether I’m walking, feeding, or refreshing a pet, I try to make sure everything is done thoroughly, consistently, and in a way that keeps them safe, happy, and comfortable.
I have two pets of my own: Lulu, a rescued pitbull/lab mix who is the sweetest girl, and Xerxes, my very friendly and docile leopard gecko. Dogs are definitely my favorite type of pet, but I’m loving getting to know more cats while working here.
One of my favorite things about pets is how trusting and affectionate they can be—even with someone they’ve just met. It’s such a privilege to earn that trust. Outside of work, I love reading, singing, writing, and spending time outdoors. I’m also conversational in Mandarin Chinese, which is one of my favorite fun facts about myself.
In school, I’ve always enjoyed biology for how it explains the world around us, English for the reading and writing, and history because it’s fascinating to learn where we come from. You’ll usually find me at Hakachow, Sage & Salt, or Ryan’s for special occasions. I’m adventurous with food—though grapes aren’t for me—and I definitely think pineapple belongs on pizza (even if I usually order pepperoni and bacon now).
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of how thoughtful, organized, and genuinely caring the company seemed. The website alone gave me the sense that both pets and staff are valued here, and that made me excited to join the team. I’m especially looking forward to learning more about cats since I didn’t grow up around them, and I’m loving meeting all the sweet kitties I get to work with now.

Sydney
Hi, I’m Syd! I’ve been around animals since I was four years old, and caring for them has always been a natural part of my life. Growing up with pets taught me responsibility, empathy, and how much joy animals can bring into a home. That’s a big part of why I love working in pet care—I get to be around the very creatures that make me happiest.
I’m a positive, energetic person who loves good conversations and sharing stories. I really enjoy making people (and pets!) feel comfortable and welcome, and I try to bring good vibes everywhere I go.
I have quite the pet family of my own: two dogs, four cats, and a bird. Daisy is my oldest dog, an 11-year-old golden retriever/Aussie mix with the sweetest soul. Gracie is my younger pup, a 1½-year-old poodle mix full of energy. My cats—Moonlight, Piper, Boots, and Celeste—all have their own big personalities, and my bird Echo is a white-faced cockatiel who loves attention.
My favorite animal of all time? Sloths. They’re adorable, even if they move at their own pace. One of my favorite parts of working with pets is getting to learn their personalities—what makes them happy, what comforts them, and how they express themselves. Watching that trust grow never gets old.
A little about me: I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and moved here in May. I’m the youngest with a sister 12 years older than me. I love to dance, sing, and color in my free time. Math was always my favorite subject in school, the left lane is for passing, my favorite restaurant is Mama Zoe’s, and I will never eat mushrooms. Pineapple on pizza? Absolutely—big yes from me.
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because I used to work with animals back in California and wanted to return to that kind of work. I’m excited to learn everything I can—dog behavior, kennel operations, handling different temperaments and breeds, and how the team here works with their own pets. I’m grateful to be part of such an amazing group.

Chapin
Hi, I’m Chapin! Before joining Winston-Salem Dog Care, I spent five years working at a vet clinic, which gave me a strong foundation in animal care and a real appreciation for all their quirky personalities and cute faces. I love walking into a visit and seeing how pets light up—there’s nothing better than being greeted by a wagging tail or happy little bounce.
I don’t currently have any pets of my own, but I’ve always been the kind of person who gravitates toward animals. I’m usually working out, enjoying the outdoors, or watching sports when I’m not with the WSDC crew. Science was always my favorite subject in school, and yes—the left lane is for the fast lane!
A few rapid-fire things about me: Chipotle is my go-to restaurant, I won't touch celery, and pineapple on pizza? Not really my thing. I also used to ride horses, which is still one of my favorite fun facts.
What drew me to WSDC was the chance to take care of pets while still balancing my current schedule, and the incredible reputation for truly caring about both animals and their families. I’m excited to learn every new name and face—especially all the amazing dogs in our community—and continue growing in this field.

Bella
Hi, I’m Bella! Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even though I hadn’t formally worked with them before joining Winston-Salem Dog Care, I’ve always found ways to help—whether it was rescuing kittens on the euthanasia list, taking in strays, or gently escorting a spider outside instead of harming it. Caring for animals has always just been who I am.
I share my home with a full little zoo: four dogs, three cats, and a ferret. My husky, Skye, actually wandered up to our house one day and never left. Marley and Toby are my two smaller pups, and my three rescue kittens—Valley, Chip, and Tucker—keep things lively.
I’m definitely more of a cat person at heart, but truly, I love all animals. One of my favorite things about working with pets is watching their personalities unfold. No two are alike, and I love how they show affection through their actions, not their words.
Outside of work, you can usually find me reading or daydreaming about the beach. Health science was always my favorite subject in school. My go-to restaurant is Olive Garden, I’ll never touch tomatoes or fish, pineapple does belong on pizza, and the left lane is for passing—always.
What drew me to WSDC was the love and compassion I saw the team give to both clients and pets. I’m excited to grow here and learn how to better understand each pet’s (and person’s) unique needs. I’m committed to working hard, supporting my team, and giving every animal in my care the level of love I’d give my own.

Boone
Hi, I’m Boone! I joined Winston-Salem Dog Care because it was close by, but I quickly realized how much I enjoy being part of this team. I’m someone who stays calm under pressure and will always jump in wherever I’m needed, which comes in handy on our busiest days.
I share my home with three pets of my own—Luna, a chihuahua–dachshund mix; Scooby, a bichon–chihuahua mix; and Sora, my black-and-white cat. I’ve always loved big dogs especially, and one of my favorite parts of this job is getting to know each pet’s quirks and personality.
Outside of work, you can usually find me playing music, writing, reading, or gaming. I’ve traveled to nine countries and eight states, history and English were always my favorite subjects, and I’ll die on the hill that pineapple does not belong on pizza. You also won’t catch me eating nuts—ever. My go-to restaurant? Arigatos.
While I didn’t come in with animal-care experience, I’m excited to keep learning, especially when it comes to communicating with dogs and understanding their behavior. I’m really grateful to be here and to grow with the WSDC family.
-

Brittany
Hi, I’m Brittany (or Britt)! I’ve been around animals for as long as I can remember—working with rescue groups from the time I could walk and always having dogs growing up. I also have four years of experience in kennel and boarding care, which has given me a strong understanding of dog behavior and the ability to recognize and prevent potential issues, like fights.
I’m a proud dog mom to two amazing pit bulls: Blu and Killah. Blu was my emotional support dog after my grandmother passed, and he now lives with my dad in Pennsylvania. Killah came to me at six weeks old with parvo, and nursing him back to health created an unbreakable bond. He also helped me through a very difficult time in my life, and I truly believe I wouldn’t have made it through without him. My dogs have saved me emotionally and mentally, and I’m forever grateful for them!
My favorite thing about working with pets is that no two days are ever the same. I love bonding with the pups, giving them endless butt scratches and cuddles, and just enjoying their unique personalities every day.
Outside of work, I spend my time helping Mama Lisa feed the homeless community—a cause close to my heart. I also played softball competitively since I was a child, and that competitive spirit still runs strong in me! My favorite restaurant is La Bamba in Greensboro, and you won’t catch me eating collard greens or pineapple on pizza anytime soon.
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because of the intimate and personalized environment they provide for the animals. I love that the kennel is on the smaller side and that the team is close-knit—it’s the perfect place for me, as I thrive in a calm, focused setting (unlike big groups of people, which give me anxiety!).
I’m excited to be part of this incredible team and look forward to making strong connections with all the pets (and their parents) we serve!

Destiny
Hi, I’m Destiny! I’ve been around dogs my entire life and was always the one caring for them, so working in pet care was a natural path for me. I love learning new things, I pick up tasks quickly, and I always try to bring a welcoming attitude to the team and to every client I meet.
I have two dogs of my own, Rosebud and Reesie. Rosebud is my first baby—she’s seven now—and she’s attached to me in the sweetest way. Reesie is a rescue who’s a little skittish at first, but once she gets your scent and decides you’re safe, she’s a total sweetheart. German shepherds have always been my favorite; their wild, goofy personalities never fail to make me laugh.
One of the things I love most about this job is getting to know each dog individually and discovering little things about them I might never have known otherwise. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my own dogs—especially Rosebud, who has pretty intense separation anxiety and will wait by the door for hours when I’m gone. And fun fact: I’m a huge Greek mythology fan.
Science was always my favorite subject in school, the left lane is for passing (period), and I’ll never touch sardines. Japanese food is my weakness, though—any Japanese restaurant is my go-to. As for pineapple on pizza? Absolutely not. That’s a culinary crime in my book.
I found Winston-Salem Dog Care through a friend and spent days looking through the website and staff bios. I immediately felt like it was a place I could belong. Now I’m here, and I truly love being part of this team—the staff, the pets, the managers, all of it. I’m excited to keep learning, especially from the people around me, and to deepen my understanding of dogs and their behavior.

Dylan
Hi, I’m Dylan! I’m pretty new to the animal-care world, but I’m jumping in with enthusiasm and learning something new every single day. I like to think I bring great all-around energy to the team—easy to work with, adaptable, and ready for anything that comes my way.
I have one pet of my own: my beloved cat, Pretty Kitty. He is my little shadow, my best buddy, and the reason canned cat food companies stay in business. We keep each other warm on cold nights, and he depends on my opposable thumbs… so really, he runs the house. He’s absolutely my favorite pet—if you read the last answer, you already knew that.
One of my favorite parts of this job is being the “leader of the dog pack”—at least in my head. Think 80s action-cartoon hero energy. It’s fun, it’s chaotic in the best way, and the pets make every day feel rewarding.
Outside of work, I love watching a good film with Pretty Kitty and my fiancé, especially on a chilly rainy day with a huge bowl of popcorn. I also hope to write a musical someday—it’s already in my head; I just have to get it onto paper. In school, history and choir were my favorites.
The left lane? Obviously it’s for driving exactly as fast as the semi beside you so no one can pass and chaos ensues. (Kidding… mostly.) My favorite restaurant is my mom’s kitchen—nothing compares. I’ll never touch eggplant, pineapple absolutely belongs on pizza (especially with ham and cinnamon), and I stand by that.
What drew me to Winston-Salem Dog Care was the chance to make a life change and find something more fulfilling. This place felt right from the start—happy people, happy pets, and a place where I can grow. I look forward to learning more every day and becoming the best version of myself in the process.

Karma
Hi! I’m Karma—and yes, that’s what I go by too. This is my first professional experience working with animals, but I’ve been surrounded by them my entire life. From dogs and cats to rodents, chickens, and even a pig at one point, animals have always been a big part of my world.
I currently share my home with a rescue dog named Bagel and two cats, Ellie and FireFuzz. Bagel didn’t bark or make any noise for the first few months after we adopted her, so I’ve worked closely with her to build up her confidence. Ellie was found under my partner’s house and quickly became part of the family. FireFuzz is actually the granddaughter of my older cat, so she holds a special place in my heart.
If I had to pick, I’d say my favorite pets are cats and rodents—especially mice and gerbils. I’ve always loved how smart and expressive they are, and I hope to have more someday.
I consider myself a creative thinker and like offering new ideas or perspectives that might not have been considered before. I love knowing that the work I do helps improve the quality of life for the animals we care for—even if it’s just one pet at a time. That alone makes every day meaningful to me.
When I’m not working, I’m probably playing video games or building up my collections—I’m really into Pokémon cards and Calico Critters right now.
Science has always been my favorite subject in school—it just clicks for me. And while I’m still undecided on a favorite restaurant (Applebee’s hasn’t won me over yet), I do know I’d never eat anything like pufferfish… I’m not taking any chances. And yes—I feel strongly that pineapple has no business being on pizza!
I was drawn to Winston-Salem Dog Care because it felt like more than just a job—it felt like a family. That’s exactly what I’ve found here. Everyone is close-knit and supportive, and Marie especially gives off a “mom” energy that shows how much she truly cares for her staff.
I’m excited to keep growing here and to continue deepening my understanding of dogs and the best ways to care for them. Helping them live their best lives is the goal—and I’m all in.

Hi, I’m Madyson—but you can also call me Mady! I’m currently in school working toward becoming a veterinary assistant, and I love being able to apply what I’m learning to my work with the pets here at WSDC.
I’ve always been surrounded by animals and have over a year and a half of experience working at a boarding and daycare facility for dogs. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’m passionate about building a career in animal care.
At home, things are definitely lively! My family and I have four dogs—Lilly, Luna, Doug, and Chicken Wing—and I recently added my dream pup to the mix: a golden retriever named Chica. I fell in love with her little face the moment I saw her. She keeps me on my toes 24/7, and I couldn’t be happier. I also have seven cats, each with their own personality, and I absolutely adore them. I’d definitely say I’m more of a cat person at heart!
What I love most about working at Winston-Salem Dog Care is building trust with both pets and their families. Creating those bonds and knowing that our clients feel confident and cared for means everything to me.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my pets. I love being outside in the sunshine with a good book, going to concerts, and collecting vinyl records—I’ve been building my collection since middle school and have about 200 so far!
Fun facts about me? My favorite restaurant is Olive Garden (I’m a pasta girl through and through), I’d never eat a hot dog (they scare me 😅), and I’m still undecided about pineapple on pizza—I’ve never tried it!
I was drawn to WSDC because it felt like a warm, welcoming, and truly passionate environment. I’m so excited to continue growing here and learning even more skills that will help me as I move forward in the animal care field.

Isabella
Team Lead and New Client Experience
